If you purchase a health plan on your own (because you are not offered affordable insurance from an employer) on Vermont Health Connect, you may qualify for financial help in the form of a tax credit to reduce your monthly premiums. You can choose to apply your subsidy to your monthly premiums or you can get it all at once when you file your federal income taxes. The calculator below will estimate your tax credit or you can complete the application and view your tax credit before you enroll in a health plan.
Financial help will also be available for some individuals and families to help pay for out-of-pocket health care costs. Please note that, if you qualify, you will have to select a silver plan in order to take advantage of these "cost-sharing reductions."
Please be advised that if you are pregnant, age 65 or older, blind, or disabled, this calculator will not list all of the programs for which you may be eligible. If you are pregnant, please complete the application to ensure that you are properly screened for all programs. If you are age 65 or older, blind, or disabled, please visit mybenefits.vt.gov.
This calculator might determine that you are not eligible for a subsidy because you qualify for Medicaid. If so, you can enroll in Medicaid by completing the same Vermont Health Connect application. Please note that this calculator does not take into account individuals who are not eligible for Medicaid for reasons other than their income or family size, such as immigration status.
