Steps to Determine Applicable Percentage for APTC/VPA 2015
Note: Round to the nearest one-hundredth of a percent (two decimal places out).
To find the 2015 Applicable Percentage with Vermont Premium Assistance
Step 1: Use 2014 FPL to take the Applicable FPL for a given household
Ex: $50,085 for a tax household of four is 210% of 2014 FPL (100% = $23,850 for household of four)
Step 2: Take the Applicable FPL and subtract the Initial FPL (from chart below)
Step 3: Then, find the difference between the Initial FPL and the Final FPL for the range that the applicable FPL falls into:
Step 4: Take the total from Step 2 and divide it by the total in Step 3.
Ex: 10/50= .20
Step 5: Find the difference between the Vermont and Federal Initial Percentage and Vermont and Federal Final Percentage in the applicable range.
Ex: 6.60 -4.84=1.76
Step 6: Multiply the amount in Step 4 by the amount in Step 5.
Ex: .20 x 1.76 = .352
Step 7: Add the total of step 7 to the Vermont and Federal Initial Percentage in the Applicable FPL’s range.
Ex: .352 + 4.84 = 5.19%
