Under the Affordable Care Act, the federal government is required to rate qualified health plans (QHPs) based on quality and price to assist customers in selection of plans. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is the federal government agency that gives these ratings to insurance companies.
Due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, the QRS program has been temporarily suspended. For the 2021 plan year, there will be no QRS star ratings for Vermont Health Connect issuers. We anticipate that the QRS ratings will resume for plan year 2022.
