VHC Town Hall: 2025 Open Enrollment Essentials
-
More financial help is available!
Everyone who has been getting financial help will get more in 2025. The additional financial help can be applied to any metal plan. -
Monthly Premiums are LESS for Gold plans than for Silver plans!
Usually, monthly premium costs increase with each metal level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum). In 2025, Gold Plan premiums will cost less per month than Silver Plans. Think about all of your healthcare costs. It pays to SHOP AND COMPARE using the Plan Comparison Tool. Find the plan that’s best for you.-
Customers will continue to be auto renewed. This year, some customers on a Silver Plan will be automatically moved to a more cost-effective plan.

If you were in a Silver Plan in 2024,
It’s possible that plan may no longer be available. There are some silver plans, like a Silver 87 or Silver 94 that may still be the best choice for you, but you should always assess your needs and then shop to compare plans and offers from insurance companies on the Vermont marketplace. Call Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont or MVP Health Care directly to get information about their coverage and details of their network. -
If you were on a Catastrophic Plan and are turning 30,
You will be automatically enrolled into a Bronze Plan with the same insurance company. If you want to enroll in a different plan, you need to make the change during the Open Enrollment period. If you want to change plans, we recommend you assess your needs and the shop to compare plans. Use the Plan Comparison Tool to see that subsidies you are eligible for and how the help increases your buying power. This financial help can be applied to any metal plan.
What to do NOW!
Here’s a checklist to help you get started:
-
Report any changes. Update your information with Vermont Health Connect at www.VermontHealthConnect.gov. Did you get married? Start a new job? We use this information to determine how much financial assistance you can receive.
-
Review your current coverage: Assess your current health insurance plan. Consider your needs and what worked well and what didn’t this past year. Look at your coverage AND out-of-pocket costs for doctor visits, prescriptions, specialist care, and any other benefits. You can decide if you want to keep your existing plan or enroll in a different one.
-
Watch your mail: Your insurance company will be sending you a notice before Open Enrollment. Review your information carefully! Look for any changes in your current plan’s benefits, costs, or network of providers. Sometimes, plans change their terms from year to year. Check premiums, deductibles, co-pays, out-of-pocket maximums, and coverage details.
